Norwich Bulletin 19 Nov 2004 LEBANON --Ruth Marie "Mrs. T" (Tollner) Tollmann, 89, passed away Nov. 17, 2004 at St. Joseph Living Center surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born Sept. 14, 1915 in Brooklyn, N.Y. the daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Van Wicklen) Tollner. She grew up and attended schools in Oceanside, Long Island where she met and married E. Russell Tollmann on Aug. 3, 1940. He predeceased her. After World War II, Russ and Ruth moved their family to Lebanon where she became a big part of the community, being involved in Cub Scouts, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lebanon Fire Dept. and the American Legion. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lebanon and a very active member of the Lebanon Historical Society. She also loved volunteering at the Covenant Soup Kitchen at St. Paul's Church in Willimantic and at the Lebanon Kids. Ruthie was always where the action was, willing to help any time, any place. A highlight and one of the proudest moments of her life, was when she was named Lebanon's Citizen of the Year, in 1996. She leaves five children, Edward Tollmann and his companion Sherry Brigham of Lebanon, Peter Tollmann and his wife Sharon of Barefoot Bay, FL., Robert Tollmann and his wife Jaclyn of Albany, VT., Nancy Kozikowski and her husband John of Lebanon and Mark Tollmann and his wife Lori of Lebanon; special friends Jim and Ginny (Green) Gearhart; eight grandchildren, Kerri, Deborah, Peter, Chad, Gregory, Kirk, Timothy and Heather; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Ashley and David; several nieces and nephews and also all the wonderful people that touched her heart at St. Joseph Living Center. She was predeceased by a daughter Jane Louise Tollmann, a brother William Tollner and a sister Jane (Tollner) Farnham. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon with the Rev. Dr. Sharon Ledbetter officiating. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to either the First Congregational Church of Lebanon or the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Dept., Lebanon, CT. 06249.
